MISSOURI CITY, MO (KTRK) -- A Missouri City Police Department motorcycle officer was sideswiped while conducting a traffic stop on Cartright and FM 1092.

The officer is expected to be OK. Police say he was not on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.

A Missouri City Police Department captain tells us the officer was writing a ticket when a passing vehicle struck his motorcycle.

Traffic is being rerouted in the area. Use Dulles Avenue as an alternate route.

The driver of the truck that struck the officer's motorcycle was cited for failure to control speed and failure to yield right away to an emergency vehicle.
