Pilot killed after a 1963 Beech 35-B33 Debonair plane crash in Southwest Arkansas

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating after a plane crashed near the airport in El Dorado, Arkansas, leaving the pilot dead.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday at the South Arkansas Regional Airport at Goodwin Field.

Union County Sheriff Mike McGough said they received a call of a plane going down near the runway in a wooded area. McGough said area residents reported hearing and feeling the impacts of the crash. When authorities got to the scene, they found a small, private plane and the pilot deceased.

Johnathan Estes, deputy operator at the airport told KSLA News 12 that NTSB is expected to arrive Sunday evening to investigate.

The pilot's name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.

The aircraft impacted wooded terrain while on approach to South Arkansas Regional Airport (KELD), El Dorado, Arkansas. The airplane sustained unreported damage and the sole pilot onboard received fatal injuries.
