GROTON, CT
A group of bridge inspectors were stuck off the side of the Gold Star Bridge from Groton to New London Tuesday afternoon, causing all southbound lanes on I-95 to be shut down as the workers were rescued, according to State Police. The road reopened just after 3:30 p.m.
A bridge inspection company was using a Snooper truck to inspect the bridge. The inspectors were off the side of the bridge in a bucket, and when they tried to get back on top of the bridge the controls on the bucket failed.
Firefighters were able to get the inspectors back onto the bridge.
Delays are expected to last for several hours.
