2-year old girl found drowned in neighbor's pool after reported missing in Berkeley Township, New Jersey

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WABC) -- 

 

A toddler who was reported missing by her parents in Ocean County, New Jersey, Monday night was tragically found a short time later.

Berkeley Township police said a 911 call came in about the missing 2-year-old girl on Bittern Road at 8:33 p.m. Monday.

Officers started searching the area and found the girl floating in the shallow end of a next-door neighbor's in-ground pool. She was unresponsive.

Police tried to revive the girl, but she was pronounced dead just before 9:30 p.m. at the hospital.

Officers are investigating the incident, and said prosecutors will later be consulted to determine if any charges will be filed.
