NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
New Orleans police have arrested a 25-year-old woman after
she crashed her vehicle into the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. It happened around 1:15 a.m.
Irina Polushina was arrested on traffic charges, police
said. She was also issued three citations for reckless operation, careless
operation and driving under the influence.
According to police, Polushina was driving river bound on
Calliope Street when she lost control of her tan 2006 Toyota Camry. She drove
into the Hall G glass doors. While inside the lobby, police say the vehicle
made a U-turn, then left the building and crashed into an exterior wall.
The Convention Center was closed at the time of the
collision. Polushina suffered minor injuries. No one else was injured. She was
taken to the DWI testing facility before being charged. The vehicle had severe
damage.
Polushina posted a $6,500 bond and was released from custody Thursday.
