SELINSGROVE, PA. (AP)
State police in central Pennsylvania say a speeding pickup
truck smashed into a tree shortly after they stopped chasing the vehicle, and
the driver lost his life.
Troopers in Snyder County said they tried to stop the pickup
on Routes 11/15 north of Selinsgrove after seeing it speeding in the borough
shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday.
They say the driver refused to stop and the chase continued
onto Route 35 and Produce Road with the driver "committing various traffic
violations" along the way.
Police said they ended the pursuit near Silver Creek Road,
but about a half-mile away the pickup smashed into a tree.
Police said the driver, 31-year-old Jeremiah Herrold of Port
Trevorton, later succumbed to his injuries at Geisinger Medical Center.
Sorry to say, but we now have another reckless driver permanently
off the roads.
