SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS:

A woman died Thursday after a pickup truck fell more than 50 feet from an overpass on U.S. 281 on the North Side.

The Ford pickup was traveling southbound when it drove off the highway around 1 p.m. between Basse and Jones Maltsberger Road and landed upside down.

An off-duty paramedic who was playing golf at the Quarry Golf Club was able to get to the scene of the crash and pull a female passenger out of the vehicle, officials said.

She was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. The driver, however, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Both are believed to be in their early-to-mid 20s, police said.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
