MULTIPLE WEATHER-RELATED CRASHES ON THE INDIANA TOLL ROAD

A sedan is upended between two semi-trucks in the aftermath of a multiple vehicle crash on the Indiana Toll Road near Bristol, Indiana Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015. The mid morning crash brought traffic to a stand still in the west bound lanes and often in the east bound lanes as well. An extremely heavy snow squall was over the area causing white out conditions with dangerous winds and cold. Dozens of accidents were reported throughout the region. On Saturday morning, Feb. 14, multiple crashes brought east- and westbound traffic to a halt on the Indiana Toll Road.  As of 1:45 p.m. Saturday, traffic was still backed up due to crashes.

After multiple crashes halted east- and westbound traffic on the Indiana Toll Road Saturday morning, a dispatcher with the Indiana State Police said traffic was still backed up due to crashes at 1:45 p.m.

An emergency dispatcher with the Indiana State Police said the morning’s accidents occurred between the 96 and 107 mile markers on the toll road Saturday, Feb. 14. The dispatcher could not confirm how many vehicles were involved in the crashes, though she said injuries were involved in an accident in the road’s westbound lane.

Though the toll road was not technically shut down Saturday morning, an Indiana State Police dispatcher said traffic was not moving in either of the road’s lanes.

At about 9:50 a.m. Saturday, a crash involving multiple vehicles was reported at the toll road’s 101 mile marker, an emergency dispatcher with the Elkhart County 911 Center said.

Emergency units with the Indiana State Police, Middlebury Township, Bristol Township and Osolo Township responded to the accident, the Elkhart County 911 Center dispatcher said.
