CONSTRUCTION WORKER IS CRUSHED TO DEATH BY STEEL BEAMS AT BARCLAYS CENTER IN BROOKLYN WHILE INSTALLING A “GREEN ROOF”

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

A construction worker at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn was crushed to death when several steel beams fell on him.

The 52-year-old iron worker, an employee of Greenland Forest City Partners, was part of a construction crew installing a “green roof” at the facility at Fort Greene Place and Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11217 when he was crushed by the falling beams just after 1:30 p.m., according to authorities and the company.

NYC fire officials say the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The worker's name has not yet been released.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the deadly accident
