One person was killed early Friday in a violent crash and explosion when the driver of one car hit another car while going 100 mph in Cobb County, GA

COBB COUNTY, Ga. —

One person was killed early Friday in a violent crash and explosion when the driver of one car hit another car while going 100 mph in Cobb County, police said.

The deadly crash kept the intersection of Windy Hill and Atlanta roads closed for hours as police investigated.

Smyrna police said an orange Dodge Challenger was going over 100 mph eastbound on Windy Hill around 2 a.m. when it collided with a gray Chevrolet Monte Carlo heading north on Atlanta Road and crossing through the intersection.

The force of the impact triggered an explosion and killed the male driver of the gray car.

The driver who died was identified by police as 26-year-old Osornio Guadalupe, of Smyrna.

The driver and a male passenger were pulled from the wrecked Challenger.

Police said the driver of the Challenger has non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger has serious injuries, according to police.

Both were taken to Kennestone Hospital for treatment.

Police are looking for witnesses to the high-speed crash.

Investigators say they are reviewing video from traffic cameras to see if they they captured the crash. Cobb police are investigating a possible link between the Challenger and shots that were fired shortly before the crash.
