Piper PA-28R-200 Arrow II Plane's Landing Gear Collapsed At Petaluma Airport, California

JUNE 11, 2015

No one was injured when the landing gear of a plane collapsed as it landed this afternoon at Petaluma Municipal Airport, the airport’s manager said.

Airport manager Bob Patterson said the Piper Arrow skidded off the runway but did not catch fire. The pilot was the only person on board, Patterson said. A Sonoma County fire dispatcher confirmed no one was injured.

Patterson said he doesn’t know why the landing gear collapsed.

Officials at the airport answered questions from the Federal Aviation Administration and were given the OK to move the plane.

Patterson said he’s unsure whether the FAA will investigate the landing.
