An 11-year-old boy from Saudi Arabia is in the hospital after an ATV crash Friday.

Around 12:30 p.m. Friday Coos County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the report of an injury ATV accident in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, on the back side of a dune commonly known as V-8 Hill.

Deputies assisted Hauser Fire and Rescue along with paramedics from Bay Cities Ambulance in treating Mohommad Madoud, who was on vacation with his parents from Saudi Arabia.

A family member had rented a Polaris side-by-side from a local ATV rental place.
Police say the driver of the side-by-side was driving too fast for the conditions and hit a large indentation in the sand causing the ATV to bottom out, which caused injury to the boy's back.

He was transported out of the sand by Hauser Fire and Rescue to an awaiting ambulance, which took him to Bay Area Hospital to be treated.
