Cleanup is underway in Brown County where a pregnant mother and her two children were killed when their mobile home was swept away in a weekend flash flood.
Victoria Kennard, 32 and Gabriel Barrios, 7, were found dead Sunday morning after water from the Red Oak Creek lifted the mobile home from its foundation.
Family members at the scene identified Kennard and said she was six months pregnant.
Crews searched for Kennard’s missing 3-year-old daughter, Grace Barrios. Rescue efforts were called off when her body was found around 9 a.m. Sunday.
The family’s father, Tony Barrios, 47, and two other children survived. Rescuers found one of them hanging in a tree for safety from the heavy current, said David Benjamin, who aided in the rescue.
The children were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, a family member told FOX19 NOW. Their conditions are unknown.
Four inches of rain fell overnight and caused flash flooding in Georgetown and Ripley.
Georgetown fire crews responded to multiple vehicles underwater and rescued eight people from flooded roadways, according to officials.
Meanwhile, some roads remain closed Monday while cleanup continues.
State Route 125 at Georgetown Hill near Georgetown will be shut down until at least Tuesday due to high water, a sinkhole and several hundred feet of damaged road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
That's where troopers rescued motorists stranded in waist-high water late Saturday and early Sunday.
State Route 68 is closed at the 14.5 mile marker for road damage and state crews need to check a bridge for possible structural damage, a dispatcher said.
Owen, Mason and Lewis counties also had torrential rainfall but no reports of damage.
