A Wheeler man was killed in an ATV crash in Montrose over the weekend.Montrose, Illinois
Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 27-year-old Garrett L. Lingafelter was traveling on Mead Street at Maple Street in Montrose when Lingafelter lost contol of the ATV during heavy braking.
Deputies say the ATV flipped in the roadway end-over-end and came to rest on top of the driver.
Lingafelter was airlifted from the scene to Carle Hospital in Urbana, but died of his injuries while on the way to the hospital.
Lingafelter was the only person on the ATV.
The crash happened at 12:50am Sunday. Authorities say Lingafelter was not wearing a helmet.
