MÜHLEBERG
A single-engine
light aircraft crashed on a wooded area in the district of Holzminden.
The plane was a
" Jabiru J430 " and touched several treetops and finally crashed to
the forest floor. Residents heard a loud bang and notified authorities.
Immediately, a large
contingent of rescue teams began looking for the crash site.
The rough terrain posed
many access issues. Finally, they were
able to find the crash site in a wooded area above the village. There they discovered after a good forty-five
minutes the shattered hull of the plane. " The salvage a Unimog had to be used
because the soil was heavily watered down ," said a police officer told
BILD .
The two male occupants
were only recovered dead.
What led to the
accident is unclear. According to present knowledge the plane will probably was
flown very low, and have touched several treetops before it fell to the ground.
The wreckage was
widely scattered. Later debris was found
not far from the main road 497.
Unfortunately bad weather
conditions prevailed at the time of the flying and very limited visibility. Even a rescue helicopter had to discontinue
its operation.
The crash area was
cordoned off a large area. Access to the
crash site is only possible because of the sodden paths through the rain with
only very terrain vehicles of the fire brigade.
The Federal Bureau
of Aircraft Accident Investigation from Braunschweig has started investigations.
