KEY LARGO, FLORIDA
A Key Sanitation employee was killed while working on a garbage truck Wednesday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Stanley Salatowski, 59, of Tavernier died in the 10 a.m. incident at the Hampton Inn at Mile Marker 102.4. The truck driver said he exited the vehicle and found Salatowski on the ground, unresponsive, next to a Dumpster. The driver said he did not know what happened.
Deputies responding indicated the victim may have sustained some sort of “crushing” injury.
Salatowski was transported to Mariner’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled.
