A Tyson Granite and Stone employee died Thursday after a
slab of granite fell on him.
Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said police
and fire were called to the business at 10:19 a.m. Thursday. When emergency
crews arrived, the employee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Roberts said the employee was helping people move a piece of
granite when the accident occurred. She would not say whether they were walking
or driving a truck. She would not say how many people were moving the piece of
granite.
An investigator from the Kentucky Labor Cabinet was at Tyson
Granite Thursday afternoon to do a further investigation. Police said a
preliminary investigation concluded it was an accident.
Tyson Granite and Stone is closed until further notice.
