A second person died Thursday night from injuries suffered
in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on Jack's Creek Road.
Cody Garcia, 23, of Lexington, died at the University of
Kentucky Chandler Hospital. The Fayette County Coroner said Garcia died at 9:42
p.m. from a traumatic brain injury.
Garcia was critically injured in a car crash on Tuesday in
Madison County. EKU student Alyssa Moorman, 20, died and the crash and three
others were injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
Funeral arrangements for Garcia, who was an Eastern Kentucky
University student, are pending.
Garcia's classmates plan to remember him at a candlelight
vigil at Tates Creek High School at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Garcia's friends on Thursday evening while they were holding
a vigil for Moorman.
"Always down for anything. He always cared. He always
has your back, he's just an all over great guy," Jerd Schlosnagle, a
friend of Cody Garcia, said.
Garcia's friends set up a Go Fund Me page online to help his
family with finances and on Friday morning 128 people had donated more than
$4,300.

A second-year Eastern Kentucky University nursing student,
Alyssa M. Moorman, 20, of Dayton, Ohio, died in a two-car collision around 5:30
p.m. Tuesday on Jacks Creek Road northwest of Richmond.
She was the second person to die Tuesday on state highways
in Madison County.
According to a Kentucky State Police news release, Moorman
was a front-seat passenger in a 2004 Dodge Neon driven by Abigail E. Melton of
Lagrange. She lost control of the vehicle while driving east on Jacks Creek
Road and collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by David Ballard of
Richmond who was traveling west.
Moorman was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County
Coroner Jimmy Cornelison.
Melton and two other passengers in her vehicle were
transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. One passenger
was airlifted to the Lexington hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Ballard, the sole occupant of his vehicle, was transported
to the Lexington hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
