SLOW DOWN AND GIVE THE WORKERS A BREAK: ROAD CREW WORKER REPAIRING POTHOLES STRUCK AND KILLED IN PORTAGE COUNTY, OHIO

SUFFIELD TOWNSHIP, OHIO 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a truck versus pedestrian crash that occurred on Swartz Road, .3 miles east of State Route 43, just after 1:30 p.m. today (May 11).

A 1994 Ford Ranger truck was traveling westbound on Swartz Road when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

The 1994 Ford was driven by Samantha M. Moseley, 19, of Suffield. She was uninjured in the crash and was wearing her safety belt.

The pedestrian, William S. Knapp, 60, of Kent, Ohio was doing roadwork with the Suffield Township Road Department repairing potholes when he was struck.
Knapp was taken by ambulance to Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m. in the emergency room.

Knapp is the eighth person to lose their life on Portage County roadways this year, according to OSHP.

This crash remains under investigation.
