WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A man is recovering in a local hospital after he jumped to safety during an explosion and subsequent fire at a Webster Parish natural gas plant.

Webster Parish deputies responded to the Dubberly Gas Plant around 11 a.m. Saturday, according to Sheriff Gary Sexton. The plant is located on Sand Plant Cutoff Road in Dubberly, LA.
The road leading to the Regency Energy Partners plant is back open, but earlier Saturday only employees were allowed to pass.

No one from the company wanted to go on camera, but released a statement confirming the fire Saturday evening.

"The fire that followed the explosion of the natural gas has safely burned itself out and the area is secure. The fire department left the scene at about 4:20 p.m. We did have one contract employee who was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure," spokeswoman Vicki Anderson Granado said.

"At this time the road is open and the plant is shut in.  We will begin an investigation into the cause of the incident as soon as possible," she added
