SECAUCUS, New Jersey (WABC) -- At least two people were injured after a wrong-way wreck on Route 3 West Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 7:15 a.m. on the Hackensack River Bridge on Route 3 West in Secaucus approaching Route 120.

The preliminary reports from the Secaucus Police Department indicate an elderly female was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Route 3 west and struck a second vehicle head-on.

Both drivers were transported to Hackensack Hospital.

The roof of one of the cars had to be cut off so a person could be extricated from the vehicle.

Three or four lanes are closed with emergency vehicles. Only the right lane is getting by.

Traffic is backed up to the outbound Lincoln Tunnel.
There are also rubbernecking delays on the eastbound side of Route 3, affecting commuters coming into the city through the Lincoln Tunnel.
