Jaciel Espino-Montes, 22, of Goldsboro is facing charges including DWI after a crash killed 3 people, injured 3 others

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A driver is facing charges including DWI after a crash Sunday morning left 3 people dead. 3 other people in the car were injured.

Raleigh police responded to a single-vehicle wreck around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highwoods Boulevard and Poplarwood Court.

Jaciel Espino-Montes, 22, of Goldsboro was charged with 3 counts of aggravated felony death by motor vehicle, 3 counts of aggravated serious injury by motor vehicle and driving while impaired.

According to the wreck report, the car went off to road and the driver overcorrected. The car then hit a light pole, a street sign, and a tree and flipped over. Two passengers were ejected.

There were 7 people in the vehicle, including the driver, according to the wreck report. Police said one person was sitting in the lap of someone in the backseat of the vehicle. Not everyone was wearing a seatbelt, authorities said.

Nelson Darinel Velazquez of Dudley, Tomas Rivera Jr. of Newton Grove, and Pau Bautista of Benson were all killed in the crash, according to the wreck report.

Police are still investigating.
