Two people killed after a biplane crashed southeast of Enid, Oklahoma




ENID, Okla. (KOKH) — A biplane crash southeast of Enid about five miles has claimed two lives. The crash occurred about 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Vance Air Force Base reports an active duty member and a civilian were killed. Names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The FAA was at the scene and will investigate the crash, said OHP public information officer Lt. John Vincent, and OHP will assist their investigation.

The aircraft impacted farm field terrain in Garfield County east of Enid Woodring Regional Airport (KWDG), Enid, Oklahoma. The biplane sustained substantial damage and the two occupants onboard received fatal injuries.
Vance Air Force Base said in a news release that one of the dead was a civilian and one was an active duty military member. 


Authorities said the plane was upside down and "introverted" in a field. The cause of the crash is unknown, and they could not confirm where the plane took off, or where it was heading.
