Minivan driver dies in head-on crash with semi-truck on Interstate 280 crash at Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa

A minivan driver died in a head-on-crash with a semi on Interstate 280, south of Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa.

The crash happened at 10:45 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 when an eastbound minivan crossed the center lane and struck a semi heading westbound, according to a statement from Capt. Jeffrey Bladel with the Davenport Police.

 The minivan driver died in the crash and the semi driver was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Bladel said another semi was damaged from debris of the crash.

The semi involved in the crash was reportedly hauling paper.

I-280 was closed and a detour was set up using the entrance and exit ramps at Locust Street, Bladel said. The roadway was reportedly reopened around 2:30 p.m.

One side of I-280 has been closed for construction.
