Drunk motorcyclist killed after he goes off the road, hits an embankment, goes air born, and then comes to rest in a thicket of trees in Tennessee


Man dies in motorcycle crash Friday evening

  RHEA COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

A man dies in motorcycle accident on Friday night.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, David L. McKinney Jr. was killed when the motorcycle he was driving went off Highway 30 down Dayton Mountain.

Investigators say Mckinney Jr. was traveling eastbound when he crossed the double yellow line to pass a tractor trailer and a pickup truck.

Approaching a curve and a vehicle traveling towards him, McKinney Jr. came back into the eastbound lane.

The THP report says McKinney Jr. ran off the road into a ditch where the motorcycle hit an embankment, went air born, and then came to rest in the thicket of tree line off to the right of the roadway.

McKinney Jr. was found and pronounced dead at the scene. The report says he was drinking, a test was requested. David L. McKinney Jr. was 49 years old.
