DO NOT DRINK, SPEED AND DRIVE: 1 teen killed, 3 critically injured in single vehicle fiery crash where the female driver lost control, slamming into wooden posts, a bench, and a stone wall, catching the car on fire.

UPDATE @ 2:10 a.m.: State troopers have identified the four teens involved in a single-vehicle crash that killed one and seriously injured the other three.

According to a release, Paje Heindl, 18, of Verona was driving when she lost control through the S curves on Wolf Creek Pike before slamming into wooden posts, a bench, and a stone wall, catching the car on fire.

Heindl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Also in the car were Emily King, 17, of Brookville, Nathan Mowen, 17, of New Lebanon, and Shannon Foster, 18, of Brookville.

King and Mowen were transported to Miami Valley Hospital with life threatening injuries. Foster was also taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

UPDATE @8:35 p.m.: The fatality is an 18-year-old female and two of the three people injured and taken to Miami Valley Hospital have suffered life-threatening injuries, Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. John Chesser said.

Speed was a factor in the accident on South Wolf Creek Pike near Providence Road, on the western edge of Sycamore State Park, according to the preliminary investigation, he said.

Two of the injured are 18 as well, and the third is 17, Chesser said. Their names and addresses are being withheld pending notification of their families.

UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m.:

One person has died and three other victims have been taken to hospitals in that fatal vehicle accident on South Wolf Creek Pike.

We’re told the fatality is a female who apparently was trapped beneath the dashboard and could not get out of the wreckage. Witnesses tried to help the female, but could not get to her.

A man and two other women in the car have been taken to hospitals. Their conditions are not known.

UPDATE @ 7:15 p.m.:

We’re told a male driving the vehicle that crashed on South Wolf Creek Pike was headed south and apparently lost control on a curve.

The vehicle hit several posts protecting the natural spring at that location and the wall that protects the body of water.

South Wolf Creek Pike continues to be shut down between Providence Road and Diamond Mill Road.

FIRST REPORT

Police and medic units on are scene of a vehicle accident on Providence Road at South Wolf Creek Pike.

The vehicle was said to have been on fire with one person trapped inside.

We’re also hearing there are as many as three victims who have suffered significant injuries in the accident, which was reported at 6 p.m.

Troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol are on scene and they are not allowing us anywhere near the scene. Traffic in the area continues to be shut down for the investigation.
