One person was injured in a fast moving apartment fire in Philadelphia's Somerton section.

The blaze broke out just after midnight Tuesday on the 10000 block of Haldeman Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames.

The fire was located in a basement unit of the Haldeman Manor apartments.

Residents say they saw were forced from their homes in nothing but their robes.

"My girl woke up and she heard the fire alarm went outside the apartment and there was fire coming from under the laundry room door like a big ball of fire then you heard the explosions so everyone ran around banging on doors to get out," said William Mozee.

Officials say a man in his 60s was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital for smoke inhalation.

He is listed in stable condition.

It took crews about a half hour to get the blaze under control.

Nine residents were displaced by the fire.

So far, there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
