CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

LA Hwy. 1 in Caddo Parish has reopened after a train wreck involving an 18-wheeler Tuesday evening.

It happened just before 7:00 p.m. near the Port of Shreveport-Bossier and Doug Attaway Boulevard.

Caddo Sheriff's deputies and Caddo Fire District 5 were called to the scene.
Lt. James Bonnette with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says an 18-wheeler carrying frac sand was traveling north on LA Hwy. 1 and reportedly didn't see the Union Pacific train backing into the port.

The truck driver, whose name has not been released, tried to avoid hitting the train but wound up striking one of the train cars and side swiped two others. The cab of the truck then burst into flames.

Authorities say all railroad crossing lights were on and working at the time of the crash.

No injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
