Fiery two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 in Ontario, Canada

Three passing motorists rescued a man trapped in a vehicle before it burst into flames in the west ditch after the vehicle had collided with a pickup truck on Highway 28 just south of Division Road in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township around 3:48 p.m. Tuesday.

Highway 28 was closed in both directions south of Division Road by Peterborough County OPP for the investigation, but reopened by about 5:45 p.m., the Ministry of Transportation said.

Peterborough Paramedics took the man to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. There was no immediate word on the severity of injuries.
Douro-Dummer Township firefighters assisted Otonabee-South Monaghan Township firefighters with the response.
