The body of a Fed-Ex driver was recovered this afternoon from the Trinity River in Dallas.

Authorities said the 18-wheeler truck hydroplaned on I-45 last night and went over a guardrail at East Overton Road.

Dive teams were called in to search for the driver.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner has not yet released his identity.

Authorities say the driver of an 18-wheeler died after the truck went through a guardrail along Interstate 45 and plunged into the Trinity River late Friday.

About 10:54 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to the scene of a swift water rescue after a FedEx truck veered off Interstate 45, near Overton Road.

Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman, said authorities had to call off the search for the truck driver because of low visibility.

“Because of the darkness and the rain that was coming down, they decided it wasn’t safe enough to do so,” Evans said.

The search resumed this morning.

Around noon, divers confirmed the driver had died, Evans said. Crews were able to pull his body from the water shortly after.

Dallas police, the Dallas County sheriff’s department, hazmat crews and the Texas Department of Transportation were also at the scene.
