SCHOOL BUS AND TRUCK INVOLVED IN FATAL CRASH IN WASHINGTON STATE; 43 STUDENTS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

ORONDO, WASHINGTON

The driver of a car is dead after a crash that also involved a school bus and a truck near Orondo, Washington, on Thursday.

Forty-three students on the bus were taken to the hospital with injuries, and the bus driver suffered minor injuries, according to Washington State Patrol.  The extent of their injuries in unknown at this time according to Trooper Wright. 

Initial reports were that 5 students and the driver were injured in the crash, but Trooper Wright later raised the total number of students taken to the hospital to 43. 

Two people in the truck were seriously injured.

No identities have been released.

State Route 97 is closed from Orondo to milepost 235 due to accident. SR 97 runs along the east side of the Columbia River.
