An accident involving a truck and a school bus on a western Pennsylvania road left three people, including one student, with minor injuries, authorities said.

The Armstrong County Department of Public Safety said the accident happened on Route 422 in Plumcreek Township just before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Director Randall Brozenick said preliminary information indicates that the truck hit the back of the bus, leaving it with minor damage.

He said one of the 15 students aboard the bus was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Brozenick said the crash apparently happened during a snow squall in the area.
“You couldn't see anything. It was a total whiteout. Cars were going. They didn't even see the bus stopped,” said Ted Stahl, who witnessed the crash.

Stahl told Channel 11 that his 16-year-old grandson was on the bus. The teen told Stahl that he decided to wait to exit the school bus to cross the street after he noticed the cars rushing past him.

“The lights were on. I guess they couldn't see. Well, next thing we know, we heard this big crunch,” said Stahl.

According to Stahl, the injured student was taken from the scene by an ambulance.

“She had a slice here on her face, right above her eye. It was bleeding pretty good,” said Stahl.
