TRAIN CARS DERAIL AT ANTELOPE RAILYARD NEAR SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA.  ONE CAR WAS CARRYING TOLUENE

The Union Pacific railyard at Antelope North Road and Poker Lane in Antelope was evacuated Monday evening for a railcar derailment.

Union Pacific spokesperson Mark Davis said three cars derailed at 6:15 p.m. Responding emergency crews declared a Level 3 HAZMAT and hazardous materials specialists were called.
Full cleanup is expected to be completed by 6 p.m. Tuesday said Davis. As of Tuesday morning five of the seven cars were placed back on the track. Trains were operating through the rail yard at 11:30 p.m. Monday

After initial investigation, the leaked materials were determined to not be hazardous and the railcars also checked out, Metro Fire tweeted. There was no threat and the railyard was turned back over to Union Pacific.
Davis said one car was carrying plastic pellets, a second car was empty and the derailed tanker was carrying toluene. Toluene is used to make foam insulation and is also used in the manufacture of paint and adhesives.
There were no injuries.
Sacramento Metro Fire Capt. Michelle Eidam said evacuation of the railyard was normal procedure in such situations. She added there were no other evacuations and no road closures.
