A two vehicle accident on Interstate 80 involving a semi truck injured a Coralville man Tuesday morning.
According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the accident occurred at 10:49 a.m. in the eastbound lanes. Walter A. Bielefeld was driving a semi truck eastbound on I-80 near the First Avenue exit, according to the report. Bielfeld hit an icy patch, struck a cable barrier and bounced back into the right lane of eastbound I-80, the report said.
According to the report, Bielefeld’s truck then hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Jonathan R. Underberg of Coralville. Underberg was taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Information on Underberg’s condition was not available Tuesday afternoon.
The accident reduced traffic to one lane on eastbound I-80 for about an hour. By noon, all lanes of traffic were open.
