MAN FOUND DEAD INSIDE TRUCK SUBMERGED IN FORT WORTH, TEXAS LAKE

The Associated Press January 21, 2015

FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities say a body was found inside a submerged truck in a Fort Worth lake.

Divers with the Fort Worth Fire Department on Tuesday night pulled a man's body from a four-door pickup that was in Mosier Lake, which is near Loop 820.

Police say it's too early to determine if foul play was involved or if it was an accident. But they say homicide detectives are investigating the case.

The Tarrant County medical examiner will work to identify the body. Police say anyone who hasn't heard from a loved one in the past few days should contact authorities.

Officials say emergency responders arrived after several male teenagers reported noticing the vehicle in the water. The teens swam to check the vehicle and found the man's body inside.

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said one of the teens was treated for minor injuries, and to increase his body temperature.

A dive team confirmed that there was a body in the truck in Mosier Lake, just west of the Interstate highway.

First responders believe the vehicle had been in the water for "some time," covered in water up to its roof. Homicide and traffic detectives were combing the area Tuesday night trying to find clues, but darkness, the cold water, and muddy conditions added challenges to the investigation which is trying to determine if foul play is involved.

"We are unsure exactly when this happened," Clay said. "The truck has been there for a while. It was not reported as an accident."

It was after 8 p.m. when the body was finally recovered. The victim was described as a middle-aged male.

"This will be a perfect opportunity for someone, if their family member, their loved one has not returned and is missing, to please get a hold of us as soon as possible," said Fort Worth police spokesman Officer Daniel Segura.

Tow trucks removed the dark-colored, four-door Dodge pickup from Lake Mosier. Traffic in the northbound lanes of Loop 820 was shut down during the operation.
