GARBAGE TRUCK AND SUV COLLISION ACCIDENT CLOSES LANE OF ALBA ROAD IN OTSEGO COUNTY, MICHIGAN

JANUARY 30, 2015

OTSEGO COUNTY, MICHIGAN — One lane on a portion of Alba Road was closed Friday afternoon around 1 p.m. following a two car accident, involving an SUV and a garbage truck.

Otsego County Sheriff's deputies reported the accident occurred after the garbage truck briefly lost traction turning into a residence on Alba Road, near the Antrim County line.  An SUV traveling behind the garbage truck also lost control on the slippery roads and crashed into the back of the garbage truck.

The Otsego County EMS was on scene, but deputies say those involved in the accident refused hospital care. There was a pregnant woman involved in the accident who may have went in for care later in the day as a precautionary measure, though deputies said she appeared to be fine.

The road was very icy at some portions and whenever it is icy, deputies encourage all drivers to use caution when traveling.
