70-YEAR OLD MAN DEAD AFTER HE WAS HIT BY A TRUCK IN GOODWOOD, NOVA SCOTIA.  THE MAN WAS WEARING DARK CLOTHING, AND THE SURROUNDING AREA IS NOT WELL LIT.

GOODWOOD, NS – One man is dead after an accident between a pedestrian and a transport truck on Mills Dr. near Prospect Rd.

The 70-year old man was declared dead on the scene, said RCMP. Police, Halifax Regional Fire, and Emergency Health Services all attended the accident.

The cab of a transport truck was heading outbound on Prospect Rd and turned right onto Mills Dr when it hit the man, said RCMP Cpl. Jadie Spence.

RCMP say the man was laying on the road before the truck arrived, and the driver called 9-1-1 after hitting the man. RCMP say the body was laying on the road before the truck arrived.

They say the man was wearing dark clothing, and the surrounding area is not well lit.
“Reconstruction will do what they do, in terms of measurements and photographs,” said Cpl. Spence. “And then we often look at things like the vehicle that was involved in the accident, a mechanical inspection, make sure the vehicle was working properly, interview the driver of the vehicle and any other witnesses.”

The medical examiner did go to the scene, but RCMP hasn’t released the man’s identity.
