Police have identified the man killed by a tri-axle truck in Somerset County.

State police in Somerset said 35-year-old Andrew Van Horn, of Wells Tannery, died Thursday afternoon after the trailer backed over him in Hooversville.

Authorities said the incident happened at a construction site along Hooversville Road near Ponderosa Road.

"We can confirm that there was a work zone fatality involving a contract employee on a paving job in Somerset County yesterday. The incident is still under investigation by the state police. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time," PennDOT officials said.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Vanhorn worked for Cottle Asphalt. He was hit as the truck was backing up at the job site.

Police and OSHA continue to investigate the incident.
