Ferry sank in Indonesia Update

August 16, 2018 Update: 5 crew and 1 passenger are missing, some 45 people were rescued, exact figures yet unknown.
Ferry KMP BANDENG sailed from Tobelo, North Maluku island, bound for Bitung, eastern North Sulawesi, Indonesia, in the evening LT Aug 14, with 24 passengers, 18 crew and 16 vehicles on board.
At the time of departure, weather was fine. In the morning Aug 15 ferry contacted authorities and asked permission to turn back, because of deteriorating weather.
Several hours after that, contact with ship was lost. Later it was reported, that the ship suffered engine failure, has been disabled, and sank being caught in heavy swell, in the afternoon Aug 15.
All 42 people on board are missing or drowned, according to latest updates. Ferry sank off Loloda, West Halmahera, North Maluku. Locals are already collecting bodies of drowned passengers and crew.
