WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of New York to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by a severe winter storm and snowstorm from March 14, 2017 – March 15, 2017.
Federal funding is available to state, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for severe winter storm and snowstorm in the counties of Albany, Broome, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Orleans, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, and Ulster.
In addition, federal funding is available to the state, tribal, and eligible local governments on a cost-sharing basis for snow assistance for a continuous 48-hour period during or proximate to the incident period in the counties of Albany, Broome, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Orleans, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, and Ulster.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Seamus K. Leary has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Leary said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
