A 26-year-old man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when his jet ski crashed into a boat as he was cruising around New York Harbor, officials said.

The man was riding the watercraft in the vicinity of Liberty Island when he collided with a small boat around 11:30 a.m.

The NYPD’s Harbor Unity responded and pulled the injured man out of the water and took him to Brooklyn, where he was turned over to EMS and rushed to Lutheran Hospital.

The man suffered head trauma and is listed in serious condition.

The incident is still under investigation, police said.

We have been watching these jet skiers all afternoon.  They were running these skis at excessive speeds, with numerous jet skis on the water, along with a number of sailing and recreational boats.  It is not surprise that this collision occurred.
