HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. —
A construction worker was killed after three people at a construction site were struck when a driver sped through SE 122nd Avenue in Happy Valley Tuesday afternoon.
Police have arrested a suspect in the incident. Fredot A. Tsopko, 51, of Portland, faces manslaughter and DUII charges.
The crash was reported around 1 p.m. along SE 122nd between Sunnyside and Mountain Gate.
"He approached the construction scene, there was a flagger there attempting to stop the car. [The driver] then struck the flagger, continued through the scene, struck two workers and continued northbound on 122nd," Sgt. Brian Jensen with Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said.
Police said Tsopko drove for another 200 to 300 feet before crashing his car and rolling it on its side.
The flagger and the other construction worker were hospitalized with unknown injuries.
A third party crew (a private contractor) was conducting a water line project for the Sunrise Water District in the area when the three crew members were struck.
Tsopko had to be extricated from his car and was also hospitalized. After he was released, police took him to the Clackamas County Jail, where he is being held on $252,500 bail.
The name of the construction worker who was killed will be released after family notifications are made.

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. – A driver who hit and killed one construction worker and injured two others in Happy Valley on Tuesday has been charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Fredot A. Tsopko, 51, of Portland, was booked into the Clackamas County Jail Tuesday night after he was released from the hospital.
The crash closed Southeast 122nd Avenue between Sunnyside Road and Mountain Gate Road for most of Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies said Tsopko hit a flagger and two workers, then continued driving until the vehicle crashed and rolled over. Tsopko was rescued from the vehicle before being taken to the hospital.

The names of the victims were not immediately released. The conditions of the surviving victims was not known Tuesday night.
