EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) --
A crowbar fell from a 35-story building under construction on Manhattan's East Side Thursday, striking a taxi and sending one person to the hospital.
Around 9:15 a.m., the vehicle was hit on Third Avenue, near East 59th Street and across from Bloomingdale's flagship stre.
The building is a condominium building that's currently being built.
The NYC Department of Buildings records said the taxi driver is the person hurt in the incident. That person was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with unknown injuries.
The DOB said it has a crew at the scene investigating the incident.

A crowbar plunged onto a yellow taxi cab on Manhattan's East Side Thursday morning, smashing the windshield and spraying glass inside the vehicle, buildings officials say.
One person was taken to the hospital when the crowbar fell onto the taxi on 58th Street and Third Avenue, according to fire officials. The victim's condition wasn't immediately clear.
The roof of the taxi SUV was dented and the windshield was shattered.
The Department of Buildings said a crowbar fell from a construction site at 200 East 59th St. Investigators were on the scene and expected to announce enforcement actions later in the day.
A woman who lives in the area says there's constantly construction on the block, and she often feels unsafe.
"This place is blocked off at least once every couple of weeks. It's insane," said Ariana Medina. "Construction happens all the time, but particularly this building always has problems. And this is a busy intersection."
