(KUTV) An explosion in a family home in Ogden, Utah, caused a massive fire Tuesday at 2831 Monroe Boulevard and sent one person to the hospital.
The condition of the person and the nature of their injuries is unknown.
Ogden Fire said the home was a single-family residence that was described as "fully involved" after the explosion.
Eric Bauman, deputy deputy chief of the Ogden Fire Department said the call came in just before 6 p.m. and fire fighters arrived within minutes.
Ogden Fire Department fought the blaze and said it made progress putting out the fire. Questar was at the scene, checking for a gas leak and monitoring the air, while Rocky Mountain Power was also at the house checking power lines on Tuesday night."We had an an active gas leak at the property here," Bauman said. "We had a great deal of fire when we arrived here."
He said flames soared up to 30 feet high and firefighters focused on saving a neighboring house.

OGDEN, Utah -- Ogden Fire Crews are investigating a house explosion at 2831 South Monroe in Ogden Tuesday night that injured a man.
Neighbors heard the explosion and saw the horrific aftermath.
“Literally it was a large explosion... huge. It rocked the windows next door to us,” said Patrick Dykes who has lived in the neighborhood for decades. “The whole upper half of the house blew off...part of the back side of the house (fell) on the neighbors car over there.”
The explosion echoed throughout this Ogden neighborhood.
The homeowner, who neighbors know as "Uncle Bobby," was trapped inside. They watched helplessly as he tried to escape
“As the blaze got bigger he finally crawled out the front window,” Dykes said.
The man was rushed to the hospital.
“It was really insane to just see him coming out of the window. He did not look like he was all right,” Camacho said.
Fire crews had no choice but to pull back and watch the fire destroy the home.
“There was just too much fire to safely put firefighters inside the structure," said Eric Bauman, Deputy Chief Ogden Fire Department.
No other homes were damaged. The cause of the fire and explosion is under investigation.
