A 19-year-old Monmouth County woman involved in a fatal crash in Connecticut last year has been charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence, authorities said.
Erica S. Weinman was driving a Ford Escape east on Interstate 84 on Oct. 25, 2015 when she crossed the center median and slammed into a westbound 2007 Porsche Cayman. The SUV landed on its roof following the 10 p.m. crash in Middlebury.
Kevin J. Klein, 59, of Brookfield, Conn., was killed in the crash. Weinman and a male passenger in her vehicle were hospitalized with injuries. A woman in Klein's car was also hurt.
Weinman was arrested Oct. 8 by Marlboro police, who were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle on Ramsgate Drive, according to Patch. She was found to have a warrant out of Connecticut for failing to appear.
On Friday, she was brought from the Monmouth County jail in Freehold to Connecticut. Weinman, who was released after posting $100,000 bail, is due in court Oct. 26, according to a news release from Connecticut State Police.
Weinman is a Colts Neck High School graduate whose most recent address is in Aberdeen.

Update: On Saturday, October 8, at 10:47 p.m., Marlboro Township Patrolman Adam Levine, while on patrol in the area of Ramsgate Drive, investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in a secluded area of the development. Erica Weinman was an occupant of that vehicle. Police ran her name, and that of the other occupant. She was found to be wanted on the outstanding warrant and arrested at the scene without incident, Capt. Fred Reck of the Marlboro PD said. The other occupant of the vehicle was released at the scene. Weinman was transported to the Monmouth County Jail, where a judge imposed a $250,000 bail, no 10% option. All extradition proceedings back to Connecticut were handled by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
COLTS NECK, NJ - A warrant has now been issued for a young Colts Neck woman accused of fleeing Connecticut after she was charged with manslaughter following a fatal car accident there last year.
Erica Weinman, then 18, of Colts Neck was involved in a fatal car accident on Interstate 84 east in Middlebury, Connecticut, at 10 p.m. on Oct. 25 of last year, according to the Connecticut State Police public information office. Weinman was driving east in the far left lane of I-84 when she lost control of her 2014 Ford Escape and crossed the center median, Connecticut State Troopers said in the accident report. That's when she slammed into a 2007 Porsche Cayman headed westbound, causing her car to flip and land on its roof, police said.
The driver of the Porsche, Kevin J. Klein, 59, of Brookfield, Connecticut, was killed in the crash. A woman next to him, Susan Anthony-Klein, 55, was taken to a local hospital for injuries. Weinman and her passenger, Brandon A. Findel, 18, also of Colts Neck, were also taken to the hospital for injuries.
Weinman was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle in the fatal crash. Now 19, she failed to appear in Connecticut court on the charges, and a warrant was issued for her arrest Saturday, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. She is considered a fugitive from justice and is being sought by authorities to be extradited back to Connecticut. The warrant listed her most recent address as West Aspen Way in Aberdeen.
The Ford Escape involved in the Connecticut crash was registered to a Freemont Lane address in Colts Neck. In June, a woman by the name of Erica Weinman was charged with serving alcohol to underage minors after a wild house party occurred at a Freemont Lane home in Colts Neck. As Patch has reported, a 24-year-old Sayreville man was stabbed at the June 25 house party, which had more than 500 people in attendance. Colts Neck Police arrived at the Freemont Lane house at about 10:50 p.m. after a noise complaint and found a 16-year-old girl who was drunk and unresponsive as well.

Brookfield Man Dies After Driver Strikes His Porsche

State police: A man died when an 18-year-old lost control of a Ford Escape and struck his Porsche.
MIDDLEBURY, CT — A Brookfield man died Sunday night when an 18-year-old lost control of a Ford Escape on I-84 and struck his Porsche, state police said.
The crash happened about 10 p.m. near the South Street Bridge, they said. Kevin J. Klein, 59, of Bonny Road in Brookfield was transported to Waterbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
According to Trooper Gerard M. Danso, Erica S. Weinman, 18, of Colts Neck, N.J. was driving a 2014 Ford Escape east in the left lane of I-84 when the car left the highway, crossed over the center median and struck the westbound, 2007 Porsche Cayman. The Escape flipped, landing on its roof.
Klein's passenger, Susan Anthony-Klein, 55, was transported to Waterbury Hospital with possible injuries, Danso said.
Weinman and the passenger of the Escape, Brandon A. Findel, also 18 and from Colts Neck, were brought to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury with possible injuries, he said.
All four occupants of the two cars had been wearing seatbelts, police said. Both cars were heavily damaged.

Kevin Joseph Klein, 59, a resident of Brookfield passed away in a car accident on October 25, in Middlebury. He was a native of Cheektowaga, New York and the son of Barbara and the late Joseph Klein.
Mr. Klein is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan Anthony-Klein, 55, and his twin sons Maxwell and Aaron Klein, 20. Susan is an accomplished pianist, and the choir director of Salem Covenant Church in Washington, Connecticut. Maxwell is studying business at Ithaca College and Aaron is a student of theater at Manhattanville College. Kevin was a devoted husband and father who will be greatly missed by his three brothers Michael, Timothy, and Eric, his mother Barbara, and his 10 nieces and nephews.
