DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A tractor-trailer driver ignored a very obvious warning sign saying the semi was too tall to fit under a Durham bridge…and then got stuck under the bridge Friday morning.

The truck was now stuck under the railroad bridge at S. Roxboro Street in downtown Durham. The stuck truck caused traffic delays in the area.

The bridge is 11 feet 4 inches tall. The truck is 13 feet 6 inches tall.

Police and tow truck crews were on scene in order to close off the area and attempt to get the truck out. In order to do that, tow truck drivers had to let air out of the tires before they pulled it out.

The truck was pulled out around 7:45 a.m.

This is not the famous “can opener” bridge in Durham.

There’s no word on any injuries or if charges will be filed against the driver.

Motorists had been advised to avoid the area and take Dillard Street.
