TRAGEDY IN SUFFERN: One Yeshiva Tiferet Torah student was killed and another is critical when they were struck by a speeding car that went out of control following a crash on Route 202 in Suffern, NY




Argentina Yeshiva Student Killed Outside Yeshiva in Suffern By a Peekskill Police Officer

A 20 year-old yeshiva student standing outside his yeshiva with another student Wednesday night were struck by an off duty police officer from the Peekskill Police Department who was speeding down route 202 in his personal vehicle.


 one boy who is from Argentina was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the second boy originally from mexico was transported to Westchester Medical Center, and is in stable condition.

The crash happened at around 11:45 o’clock Wednesday night just outside Yeshivat Tiferet Torah, a group of students were standing in the parking lot of the yeshiva when the off duty police officer from the Peekskill Police department in Westchester was traveling on route 202 in his Lexus, apparently on high speed struck a Honda Accord car who attempted to make a left turn to the yeshivas parking lot.  As he struck the Honda he struck the two boys who fall down and suffered serious injures.

Monsey Hatzolah responded to the scene and transported the boys to hospitals were one boy unfortunately passed away. The off duty police officer and the driver of the Honda Vehicle were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Ramapo Police Department is on the scene investigating the crash and believe the off duty officer was traveling in a very high speed two police sources told JP.

Police say one pedestrian was killed and another injured after being struck by a car Wednesday night in Suffern.

The accident happened at around 11:45 p.m. on Route 202 near Wilder Road.

News 12 has learned that the victims were students from a yeshiva on Route 202.

Police say that one car was turning into the yeshiva when another car, coming from the opposite side of the 2-lane road
swerved out of its lane, smashing into a second car and colliding with the two pedestrians.

One yeshiva student was killed and another severely injured when a car spun out of control near Monsey, New York late Wednesday night.

The accident occurred around midnight as the two students were standing on the sidewalk in Suffern, yards away from Yeshiva Tiferet Torah. A car driving down Haverstraw Road suddenly swerved out of its lane, smashing into a second car and colliding with the two pedestrians.

The driver of the car which spun out of control, reportedly a police officer, was injured in the accident and is listed in stable condition.

Emergency medical teams were called to the scene, but were unable to resuscitate one of the two victims, who was later declared dead at the Good Samaritan Hospital.

The second victim suffered serious injuries. The families of the two students, neither of whom are American, have not yet been informed of the accident. The yeshiva has requested that the public pray for the recovery of David Yosef ben Leah

SUFFERN, Rockland County (WABC) -- One Yeshiva student was killed and another hurt when they were struck by a car that went out of control following a crash on Route 202 in Suffern.

The victims, estimated to be between 17 and 19 years old, are students at a nearby Yeshiva Tiferet Torah.
They were found unconscious on the side of the road.

One victim was taken to Westchester Medical Center and another was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

The surviving victim was in critical condition when transported.

One of the drivers involved is an off-duty police officer with an unknown department.

Route 202 is closed in area of Limekiln due to fatal accident
