Orlando insurance agent accused of opening insurance policy with stolen identities

ORLANDO, Fla. - A licensed insurance agent is in hot water after state fraud investigators said he opened fraudulent insurance policies using stolen identities.
Investigators believe he did it so he could collect commissions on the policies.
Carl Eudell worked as an independent agent in Orlando for American Senior Benefits.
Investigators said some of the victims were friends, others didn't know him at all and one was a person he met through his church.
Floretta Smith, 71, was one of the victims.
Investigators said Eudell got her social security number and other personal information to apply for life insurance in her name.
“I ain’t never heard of him, and I don’t know how my identity came up. I don’t know how he got my social security number,” Smith said.
Smith isn't alone. Investigators believe he did the same thing to six other people.
"We have identified four victims who are over the age of 60. Clearly, we focused on those victims,” said Capt. Evangelina Brooke, of the Bureau of Insurance Fraud.
Investigators said that in his scheme, he only made about $1,300 in commissions.
He's facing 14 felony charges.
Smith said she’s worried about her credit and who else might have her information.
"It's not right, it's not right for him to do that to us,” Smith said.
Investigators with the Bureau of Insurance Fraud don't think he acted alone in getting the personal information.
They are continuing to investigate to see if they can bring charges against anyone else.
American Senior Benefits said Eudell resigned, and the company has been cooperating with the investigation.
