A Mesa, Arizona home is a total loss after explosion and fire in the kitchen
















MESA, AZ (KPHO/KTVK) -

Mesa firefighters were able to get out of a home before the roof collapsed.

According to officials, a mother and her teenage daughter heard smoke detectors and noticed flames in the kitchen of their home near McDowell and Recker roads Wednesday night.

Both were able to make it out of the house safely.

Crews from the Mesa Fire and Medical Department responded to the fire at around 10 p.m.

Firefighters were inside the home when they noticed the roof starting to give. They got out of the house a couple of minutes before the roof collapsed.

The house is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

MESA, AZ - A family was displaced after a late night house fire in Mesa.

The fire happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Recker and McDowell roads in Mesa.

Mesa Fire says a family, a mom and her two daughters, heard a loud boom and woke up to find the house on fire.

When firefighters arrived, active flames were coming from the attic. Firefighters were able to gain control of the fire and keep the fire from spreading to other structures. There were no injuries to the residents or firefighters.

The home is said to be uninhabitable and the family will be displaced.

The fire is under investigation.
