Worker dies after falling into cement truck, paramedics say
Fall happened at Lafarge Construction and Paving at around 3:45 p.m.

A worker has died after falling into a cement truck at a construction company in the city's east end, paramedics say.
At around 3:45 p.m. emergency crews were called to Lafarge Paving and Construction at 1641 Bearbrook Rd. in Gloucester, said Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson J.P. Trottier.
"The worker was standing at the top of the [cement] truck and fell into the loading funnel," Trottier said.
"The injuries were obviously fatal injuries and we declared him deceased immediately."
Ontario's Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate. A spokesperson for Lafarge said the company was "co-operating with the local authorities" and that it was "inappropriate" to comment further.
The man's name and age have not been released.

A worker is dead after falling into a cement truck at an east-end concrete supply company on Monday afternoon.
Paramedics said there is a huge funnel at the back of a truck where it is loaded. The worker was atop the truck when he fell into the drum.
Paramedics were called to the Gloucester area address around 3:45 p.m. and declared the worker dead on scene.
The incident occurred on a worksite operated by Lafarge Canada Inc., a subsidiary of the French industrial company that specializes in concrete products — the company has a number of locations in the Ottawa area.
The accident occurred at their 1649 Bearbrook Rd. location where a large industrial area is gated off with about half a dozen cement trucks parked behind a large building. Piles of raw materials used for mixing concrete could also be seen from the road.
A police cruiser and an Ontario Ministry of Labour truck could be seen at the job site on Monday evening. The Ministry of Labour, which is responsible for following up on workplace accidents, is investigating, police said.
The employees onsite waiting by the gate wouldn’t offer any comment on the death.
Police have not released the name or age of the worker.
